What type of wood should I use for my Horizontal fence?
Our preferred wood choice for Horizontal fence is Ipe or Garapa. Ipe (“EE-Pay”) is an all natural, chemical free premium wood with low maintenance. Ipe is extremely dense and is resistant to wood boring insects, scratches, and decay. Another option is to use Garapa wood.
Garapa is a light yellow to a deep golden honey, tropical high-density hardwood. It has fine-to-medium textures featuring crossed grains. Garapa is resistant to decay, rot, extreme Weather, splinters, and wood boring insects. Untreated Garapa will turn to a light silver color as it ages and to maintain honey tone, it will only need a UV inhibitor oil applied once a year.
